Microheterogeneous catalysis.

The catalytic effect of micelles, polymers (such as DNA, polypeptides) and nanoparticles, saturable receptors (cyclodextrins and calixarenes) and more complex systems (mixing some of the above mentioned catalysts) have been reviewed. In these microheterogeneous systems the observed changes in the rate constants have been rationalized using the Pseudophase Model. This model produces equations th...

Non-local versus local behaviour of microheterogeneous metals

Modelization of the elastoplastic behavior of metallic polycrystals based on micro-macro transitions using the powerful self-consistent scheme was developed for a local constitutive equation at the single crystal level. Numerical results concerning yield surface, subsequent yield surface, induced texture and plastic as well as elastic anisotropy, second order residual stresses and stored energy...

Microheterogeneous surfactant-based systems as the media for enzymatic reactions

Surfactant aggregates (micelles) of various structure, size and shape are the systems with the media mostly close to those in natural (cell) systems. Hence, they are unique in their abilities for enzymologists whose task is to disclose the potentiality of enzymatic catalysis in vivo. By example of enzyme-containing systems of reverse micelles of surfactants in organic solvents, principal ways o...

Discriminating between anomalous diffusion and transient behavior in microheterogeneous environments.

Diffusion in macrohomogeneous and microheterogeneous media can be described as effective free diffusion only at sufficiently long times. At intermediate times, the mean-square displacement of a diffusing object shows a transient behavior that can be misinterpreted as anomalous subdiffusion. We discuss how to discriminate between the two.
